Addiction Treatment

For anyone who is thinking about addiction treatment there are a few things you should know…

Applying for a treatment program can take up to 6 visits with your counsellor:

· Lots of paper work

· A doctors report

· A TB test

· And then you have to wait to get a bed,

· Sometimes as long as 6 months or more

RIGHT NOW Kackaamin is not taking anyone until Nov. 1, 2017 and it is our only family program.

If you have been thinking about treatment, then you need to make an appointment with our Drug and Alcohol counsellor soon so you have support as you wait to hear if you will be accepted into treatment.

Please contact the Health Centre at 250-740-2337.

Youth Complex Trauma

Complex Trauma describes both children’s exposure to multiple traumatic events, often of an invasive, interpersonal nature, and the wide-ranging, long-term impact of this exposure.

These events are severe and pervasive, such as abuse or profound neglect. They usually begin early in life and can disrupt many aspects of the child’s development and the very formation of a self. Since they often occur in the context of the child’s relationship with a caregiver, they interfere with the child’s ability to form a secure attachment bond.

Island Farms, Natrel milk recalled on Vancouver Island

RCMP are investigating after Island Farms dairy recalled some of the milk products its distributes on Vancouver Island, due to what a federal agency calls "harmful extraneous material."

The products include Island Farms, Lucerne and Natrel milk in one-, two- and four-litre plastic jugs.

This recall may also include Blue Harbour Fish brand products, because of the milk contamination.

Please take these products back to where you purchased them for a full refund.
